Membership Categories

The official launch of the GLOBE YACHT CLUB will be held in Antigua during the week preceding the start of the MGR. Membership applications will then be open.

GYC Ordinary Membership

Ordinary Membership is automatically offered to all those who have entered the GGR, OGR, MGR and Globe 580 Transat events and the builder of a Class Globe 580 yacht after the first sail. These memberships is offered for free for the first year. 

The ADMIRAL or COMMODORE can at anytime bestow honorary free membership to anyone deemed worthy.

A sailor from any country who has completed a circumnavigation of the globe under sail in any capacity, skipper or crew, can apply for membership to the GYC.  

Any solo sailor or crewmember who has not yet completed a circumnavigation, but is entered in a recognized circumnavigating race or about to embark on an expedition and planning to fully circumnavigate, may apply for membership before the start of that race or expedition voyage, so they can fly the GYC burgee during the event.

Joining fee €75 / Annual membership €60

A financial member of the GYC must endorse/second any new GYC member applicant. If an applicant does not know an existing GYC member they should enquire and a suitable GYC member will be suggested.

GYC Flag Officer

Membership is offered to any person who wishes to support the efforts of Don & Jane promoting adventure that focuses on HUMANS inspiring others.

Joining fee €600 / annual membership €120

GYC Life Member

A sailor who finishes the Golden Globe Race, or the Mini Globe Race and the winning skipper of the 
Ocean Globe Race will be awarded Life membership to the GYC. A sailor who completes a circumnavigation under sextant and paper charts only, able to certify that fact, without the use of GPS may apply for consideration for life membership to the GYC. 

GYC Flag Officer Life Member

A Flag Officer who believes in the aims and objectives of the GYC and supports the GYC Admiral for €6000 or more, will be awarded a “Flag Officer” Life Membership and “GYC Golden Globe” in recognition of this support.
